Welded Gabion

Welded gabion units consist of panels of quality welded wire mesh, secured together to form a rigid grid.

Weld Mesh Gabion boxes and mattresses provide a valid and effective technical solution in the design, construction and maintenance of soil retention, soil stabilization, erosion control, flood management, along with various architectural and landscaping applications.

Compared with the Woven Mesh Gabions, welded gabions hold their shape better, will last longer and can be assembled faster resulting in substantial labor savings.

Welded Gabion Assembly

Once on site, the gabion panels are assembled by hinging the front, back, and internal diaphragms to base panel and the lid to the rear panel, this can be done either by Spiral Binders or by C clips.

Below is the guide on how to assemble a welded gabion.

Step 1: Gabion is delivered in flat type, each gabion consists of Corner stiffeners, spiral binders or C clips, and a coil of tie wire. Check all the components.

Step 2: Unpack gabion panels and unfold it.One lid panel, two sides and two ends panels, front panel and back panel, diaphragm panel.

Step 3: Adjacent panels should be joined together at intersection by rotating the spiral binder starting at the top and winding down alone the intersections. Then twist the top and bottom end of the spiral binder to secure the binding tightly and prevent the spiral from moving.

Another option is to use C clips to connect all the panels.‘C’ clips must be fixed every other mesh space on all joints as shown below.

Step4: Secure the gabion with stiffener wires, this will make the gabion much stronger and hold their shape better. And a coil of lacing wire is supplied for internal bracing and joining to adjacent baskets.

Step5: Set the assembled gabions in position to the correct line, level and inclination as required by the design and joint  the adjacent gabion units by hook pins vertically.

Step 6: Once assembled, the gabions are filled with stone or rock and the lid secured to form a monolithic structure. Now you have got your qualified gabions.
